How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

The conscious mind and the subconscious mind is much like an iceberg.  It is estimated that the conscious mind makes up about 12% of the mind (the above water part of the iceberg). The subconscious mind is thought to be 88% of the total mind (the below water unseen part of the iceberg).  The conscious mind is the part of the mind that makes decisions, manages will power, reason, and logical thinking. The subconscious mind holds memories from conception to present day.  You can plan to change a habit in your life; loose weight, quit smoking, etc.; but if you have a memory in your subconscious mind that tells you otherwise, it will be difficult to change.

For example: You are at a party where chocolate cake is being served.  You have a fond memory of your grandmother making you chocolate cake for your birthday.  Which part of your mind will win?  The 12% of the mind that manages logic, reasoning, and decision making or the 88% of the subconscious mind that holds the fond memory of grandmother serving you chocolate cake?  If that iceberg can sink the Titanic, we do not have a chance.

Why Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Hypnotherapy is a way of overloading the consciousness with tasks, making the mind tired, and allowing the hypnotherapist access to the subconscious.  With these positive suggestions, I can help you to create better and healthier choices. (Note: The client is alert and can NOT be forced to take in any suggestions that they are uncomfortable with)

My Approach

Each session is tailored to your exact needs. We are so unique as individuals so how can you use a "one size fits all" approach like the approach of some Hypnotherapist.  I have many different skills in my tool box and each session may need to be somewhat different to fit your needs for that session.

Let's discuss a typical Hypnotherapy session. We will discuss how hypnosis is a common experience that we ALL experience every day several times a day.  I will educate you on the subconscious and conscious mind.  While you are in hypnosis I can not make you do anything that you would not want to do.  We'll discuss your goals.  I'll test your hypnotic suggestibility; this tells me how you learn. Don't worry this is not a test you can pass or fail.  I will take you into hypnosis and I will make the suggestions we discussed.  A session could include therapeutic journaling or imagery.  An anchor could be added so you can feel the relaxation or intention that you felt in the hypnotic state anytime you need it.  You may need a manifesting technique called the Mental Bank, a change in habit, release of stress, and oh so much more.  Rest assured you will be heard and your emotions, fears, and joys will be acknowledged.

Together let's find your FREEDOM!
